Kinja'd!!!

I’ll start - Richard Belzer drives a Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser the mate of my high school ride in this 1985 Mike & the Mechanics video for “Taken In.” Special guest star is Blue Mazda 2's great-great uncle, Blue VW Type II. Anyone else’s prior/current rides immortalized in the peak-MTV-era?

Nothing comes to mind, so I cheated and used Google. Some country singer I’ve never heard of had a generic country song about a Bronco, the one featured in the video is in fact the same gen as mine.

Oddly enough, though not peak MTV-era :

It’s the Forester, by the way...

Oh man, that is the country song and video some supercomputer would generate if you fed an AI algorithm every country music video since 1987.

At 2:44 you can see the back of an 85 or 86 Nissan Pulsar NX. My first car.

A neighbor had one , they were nice and menacing .   He replaced it with the next gen one, but didn’t get the Sportbak, sadly.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say only one or two of my cars have ever been in music videos. At most.

Not music videos, but I owned a close comp of the Skylark convertible in My Cousin Vinnie ( mine was a 65 not a 64 and was a darker green), and the 65 Cutlass in the Mississippi Delta episode of Parts Unknown .

I toured Dwight Eisenhower’s house over the weekend, and they had a few of his cars in the garage - including a ‘65 Buick Sport Wagon. So Ike liked ‘65 Skylarks.

Hey don’t you have an 80s town car?   There’s got to be hundreds of 80s videos with one of those in them.

A guy in high school had a Sportwagon - also a 65. Neat car.

And the 65 Skylark had a pretty cool full width taillight treatment for that year only ( and not on the Special either).

I did, sold it last year. Wasn’t there an Aiwa commercial in the ‘90s with one?

I looked real hard but couldn’t quite find a music video with my exact car. However, it was in a movie. Remember the bad guy’s car in Joe Dirt?

Yeah I really liked that look - though I’m sure insurance companies didn’t like fixing it if you got in a fender bender .

Nah- the taillights were 3 pieces. Left and right were standard tail lights, and I forget whether the center panel was just reflectors or had bulbs. Bulbs I think, but nothing crazy.

I know there’s been 90s Chrysler minivans in quite a few videos. AA-bodies as well. There’s always F250s somewhere in “ country” videos. Not sure what else I’ve owned has been, likely a Buick Century somewhere.

Doubtful there are any music videos that feature the immortal Transit Connect...

But I did own a Chrysler 300 as my first car

Cut to 1:00 when he trades in a Maybach for a bunch of 300C’s

EDIT:

Did some googling myself and found a first gen TC in this Offspring video (towards the end of the song)
